Heynckes warns Bayern not to get carried away

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has told his team they are not the best there is as he seeks to put a lid on the euphoria following their 3-1 win at Arsenal.

That result has made the Bavarians one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season while no more bets are being taken on them winning the Bundesliga in view of their 15-point advantage at the top.

But Heynckes has denied that his is the uber-team in European football as he tries to keep his players motivated for Saturday's clash with Werder Bremen.

"There are several top teams in the Champions League who are on a similar or even better level than we are," he said.

"Juventus, for example, who I watched last week, or Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

"We should just enjoy the moment, but keep a low profile and know that we always need to confirm ourselves."

To keep his team's motivation levels high, Heynckes is set to rotate his side tomorrow and give the likes of Arjen Robben and Mario Gomez a start, while former Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro could be a surprise inclusion too.

The rotation is also aimed at keeping his first-choice players fit for Bayern's next big challenge against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final of the DFB-Pokal next Wednesday.

"We want to extend our unbeaten run against Bremen, and then there is a very big game on Wednesday, and we know that," said the club's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who knows his side's treble chances will be put to the test next week in a pure knockout match.

Bremen will therefore be keen to take full advantage of a potentially distracted Bayern side, although their coach Thomas Schaaf knows that is going to be difficult.

"I saw them in London against Arsenal and I couldn't really spot any weaknesses," he said at a press conference.

"It's really impressive the way they are playing. They are dominant, convincing, self-assured and consequential."

Mehmet Ekici and Nils Petersen are in line to face their former club tomorrow while Aaron Hunt and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are trying to fight off a flu virus to be fit.
