Premier League Weekend Team News
A round-up of team news ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures.
Arsenal vs Aston Villa
Gunners full-back Bacary Sagna misses out with a knee problem and Kieran Gibbs remains sidelined by a thigh injury but fellow defender Nacho Monreal is available again.
Villa playmaker Charles N'Zogbia has recovered from a thigh injury and striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and midfielder Karim El Ahmadi are also available after illness ruled them out of the win over West Ham. Defender Chris Herd (foot) is also poised to return to training next week but winger Marc Albrighton (foot) and defender Richard Dunne (groin) are still ruled out.
Fulham vs Stoke
Cottagers midfielder Kieran Richardson will miss tomorrow's match despite nearing a return from a calf injury. Defender Sascha Riether is back in the squad after he missed the draw at Norwich a fortnight ago after being taken ill the night before the match. Midfielders Mahamadou Diarra (knee) and Kerim Frei (pelvis) remain sidelined.
Brek Shea and Marc Wilson are both set to feature in Stoke's squad. Winger Shea has been recovering from a foot operation while full-back Wilson's last involvement with the first team was when he broke his leg against Sunderland in October. The pair are now fit for selection, as is forward Cameron Jerome, despite suffering a knock to his knee. However, striker Michael Owen (thigh) is a doubt.
Norwich vs Everton
Canaries captain Grant Holt is ready to return after a back problem. Manager Chris Hughton has minor doubts over midfielders Alexander Tettey and Andrew Surman but both should be in contention, with only goalkeeper John Ruddy (thigh) absent.
Everton striker Victor Anichebe will be assessed after he came off at half-time in the FA Cup draw at Oldham having picked up a knock. Defender Seamus Coleman, who has been sidelined by a thigh problem, is back in training but it remains to be seen whether he will be involved on Saturday.
QPR vs Man Utd
QPR forward Loic Remy has been struggling with a groin complaint and, having suffered a setback, will be assessed to see whether he is available tomorrow. Midfielders Junior Hoilett (hamstring) and Samba Diakite (international duty) are available again, while manager Harry Redknapp is hoping to get more than 45 minutes from Bobby Zamora as the forward manages a long-standing hip injury.
Wayne Rooney sat out Monday's FA Cup win over Reading with a sinus problem and although he has now returned to training, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson does not expect the striker to have fully recovered for this game. Phil Jones (ankle) and Paul Scholes (knee) are out although Ferguson will still make changes, with striker Robin van Persie amongst those likely to be recalled.
Reading vs Wigan
Reading manager Brian McDermott is hoping to have Jimmy Kebe fit - the Mali winger missed the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United with an unspecified injury but has returned to training this week. Midfielder Mikele Leigertwood had to be replaced at Old Trafford after suffering a knock and is a doubt whilst striker Jason Roberts (hip) and goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (shoulder) are still missing.
Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz is back in full training and could feature on Saturday after almost six months out with a groin muscle tear. Winger Ryo Miyaichi may also be involved following ankle trouble while defender Emmerson Boyce (hamstring) is pushing for a start along with striker Callum McManaman.
West Brom vs Sunderland
West Brom head coach Steve Clarke has to decide whether to recall Peter Odemwingie - the striker will be part of the 20 players from which he will select his matchday squad of 18. Albion have no fresh injury worries although left-back Goran Popov will serve the second game of a three-match suspension.
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill could hand a first start to Danny Graham. The striker, who joined from Swansea on transfer deadline day, has been named on the bench in the defeats by Reading and Arsenal. On-loan defender Danny Rose looks set to miss out with a hamstring injury he aggravated against the Gunners while midfielder Lee Cattermole is a doubt with a knee injury.
Man City vs Chelsea
City captain Vincent Kompany remains a doubt - the Belgium defender has missed four games with a calf injury and manager Roberto Mancini has conceded the problem is taking longer to heal than expected. Midfielder Gareth Barry, forced out of the FA Cup win over Leeds with an ankle injury, will also be assessed while right-back Micah Richards (knee) remains sidelined.
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will return to the Blues' squad, after sitting out the 1-1 draw with Sparta Prague in the Europa League. Defenders Ashley Cole and Branislav Ivanovic are in a similar position whilst striker Demba Ba also returns after being cup-tied. Manager Rafael Benitez confirmed a couple of his players are nursing knocks but has no fresh injury concerns with only midfielder Oriol Romeu (knee) absent.
Newcastle vs Southampton
Tim Krul is a doubt with an ankle injury but Magpies boss Alan Pardew hopes the goalkeeper can retain his place in the team despite putting Rob Elliot on alert. Midfielder Cheick Tiote could return after illness, full-back Mathieu Debuchy and striker Yoan Gouffran - ineligible in Europe - are available, while Davide Santon is back in training after an ankle problem. However, Hatem Ben Arfa (hamstring) remains sidelined.
Defender Luke Shaw and midfielder Gaston Ramirez are set to return to the Saints squad after recovering from knocks. Defender Jose Fonte remains out with a knee complaint and striker Guly do Prado is a doubt. Midfielder Adam Lallana could be back after knee trouble and defender Vegard Forren hopes for his debut.
West Ham vs Tottenham
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed both James Collins and Joey O'Brien have been training this week and are in contention. Collins has been missing due to a hamstring problem while fellow defender O'Brien was sidelined with a thigh injury but both are now part of Allardyce's squad for the London derby. Left-back George McCartney (knee) is also on the comeback trail but this game will come too soon for him.
Hugo Lloris is expected to return in goal for Spurs after sitting on the bench for last night's Europa League draw at Lyon. Striker Jermain Defoe (ankle) returns to training next week and will not be considered for the match against his former club, while defender Younes Kaboul and midfielders Sandro and Tom Huddlestone (all knee) are unavailable.
